Music is Like Coffee ….PR Principle Comments

Aug30

Lots of times we need a pick me up when we are trying to stay focused on a project. Coffee is the old standby for a caffeine fix that keeps us on track with some creative energy.

Most of the concentration that comes from caffeine is short lived and physiologically  can put real creativity in a bottle.  I have found that a solid rhythmic piece of instrumental music is great to use as a change up with the coffee. It doesn’t crash out and the external stimulus can be used to keep a creative spirit around for a good extended period.

What is a  suitable piece of music? There has been research done that puts Classical music ahead of most modern popular music but the key is in the rhythm. Something that is familiar but has enough deviation to keep the mind refreshed. How about this American Classical for ya.

Sowing The Seeds Of Friendship Comments

FRIENDSHIP

FRIENDSHIP

This is a three part post

and part of the 7 part  free BignessPrinciples Report

Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life.

Sowing The seeds of friendship.

This is the meat and potatoes with gravy.

3 Awesome Steps

Step 1     Feel the Pain

The first is more of a dive than a step.

You know how going swimming is always a bit of an adjustment from one medium to another.
Getting wet is sometimes not the most desirable feeling.
But the water is fine…Once you’re in, Right?

Well, getting started in a new relationship is a bit like that.

The first action is Caring.
Getting wet and uncomfortable in this new persons needs.
Feeling their pain.

People don’t care how much you know until you show how much you care.
 It’s all about them.

Step 2    Observing the pain

Remove yourself from the Pain of the situation by immediately shooting up to ten thousand feet and watching Yourself in action
You are now in two places at once.

This is not pop psychology.
This is PAYING ATTENTION TO DETAIL.

Brian Tracey say’s “Everything Counts” and it’s true.
If it’s worth it to get involved with this person’s life
It’s worth giving them your Full Undivided Heart felt attention.
All the while …You are observing both Yourself and the other person.
Getting a God’s eye View you might say….of the Big Picture.

Ask questions. Listen. Respond. Take note. Observe.
Find a way to help in your new relationship
Observing the pain of this person.
This is the pain you will ease as a friend along the way.

Step 3  Creating a Bond

This is sowing the seed of friendship that will begin the process of relationship.
A relationship is a process.
It happens as you nurture and ease the persons pain.
And it can only work if you are willing to take as well as give.

Taking means asking.
Perhaps the most important word in success and happiness
Is the word “ask”

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Let the other person give as well.
Give them the opportunity to participate in the new relationship.
This is the balm of friendship.
The soothing touch of someone who has responded to someone else’s pain.

These action steps are used in every bit of business we do.

Feel the pain. Observe yourself and the pain. Ease the pain.

Take these three Actions and apply them to every aspect of your Business

They may not always be as dramatic as this but The Principles are there.

Put your two cents worth in,
and act on a timeless principle.
This was my  added note

 This project is long overdue.
The support and desire to complete Metronome
has always been strong. It is a self supporting system
when completed and has only been side tracked
by insufficient start up funding.
As a musician who worked in Toronto in the 60’s
70’s 80’s and 90’s I can only say
Toronto deserves this unbelievably worthwhile
Icon of Canadian Music.
Lets create this vision of Hope for the future
by celebrating the music of great Canadian artists,
especially those from our region “Atlantic Canada”
who continue to influence and encourage great music
around the world.
Metronome is one of a kind, the way
Hank Snow, Anne Murray, Glen Gould, Shania Twain,
Gordon Lightfoot, Oscar Peterson, Moe Kauffman, Denny Doherty
Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Figgy Duff, The Guess Who, Ian and Sylvia,
Wilf Carter, Stan Rogers, Gene Maclellan, David Clayton Thomas,
Ian Thomas, Rita MacNeil, Natalie MacMaster, Matt Minglewood,
Stompin Tom Connors, Al Tuck, Ryan Cook, Dutchy Mason
Ron Hynes, John Allen Cameron, John Campbelljohn, Paupers, Edward Bear,
Magic Circus, Buddy and The Boys, Sam Moon and Celine Dion are.
Lets put the icing on Canada’s Musical Heritage cake.

PR Goes Uphill The Easy Way Comments

Aug20

You never know where the next PR Principle will come from.

I was on my bike today coming up a long fairly steep grade.

PR Shot

PR Shot

There are only twelve speeds on my bike so it wasn’t long till
I found myself tacking from one side of the road to the other.
Tacking is a nautical term for sailing into the wind on an angle
to take advantage of the side swipe of wind.
In my case it wasn’t wind I was taking advantage of , it was gravity.
As I crossed the road I would dip ever so slightly back down hill.
This would give me enough momentum, and a slight rest from the strain
to head up the hill as I turned to continue tacking down a little
and back up the other side.
With this method you can coast up
some of the toughest of hills as long as you keep a close eye on the traffic.
The PR  Principle here is… to let the other guy do what he wants to do.
If you can help him rest or coast while he makes his decision, he will follow
 you to the top.
Good and right decisions are made only  when your client is rested
and in the drivers seat.
